Existing classical revival originally built in the 1980’s was fully renovated and architecturally updated. The house interior was given a transitional decor, and the floor plan was extensively altered to achieve a more open concept. The architect also reworked the exterior to give it a more balanced appearance and to achieve the clients’ interior design wishes that all millwork and finishes were fully customized.
The 1st floor includes a large central octagonal 2 story foyer which is connected to the formal rooms that include a massive living room, intimate library, dining room, formal powder room, and multiple auxiliary spaces which act as transitional areas connecting the rooms. The informal side of the home includes a large eat-in kitchen with extensive food prep areas and top-end appliances, an adjacent family room, a mudroom connected to the back stair, a guest suite, and a playroom that can be entered from the 2nd floor kids wing via a tunneled slide.
The 2nd floor has a master suite with a sitting room, bathroom, walk-in closets and cathedral ceiling bedroom. The children’s wing has 4 bedrooms with in-suite bathrooms, a homework room, and another playroom with a lofted fort. At the core of the house an additional guest bedroom resides, and the 7’ wide hallway connects both wings while also overlooking the 2-story main foyer filled with natural light via a centrally located large skylight.
