Hundreds of little girls and boys enjoyed the opportunity to sit in and imagine that they were operating machines that are specifically designed to move things..... earth, gravel, rocks and other heavy objects. Over the past decade, these particular machines have dug, moved, lifted and dropped hundreds of thousands of tons of stuff to help build and renovate shore clubs, historic buildings and homes all over Westchester County and into parts of Connecticut.

Backhoe Loader
The largest machine at a whopping 28' long and 12' wide; weighing 24,466 pounds and is used for heavy-duty jobs, like digging very, very large amounts of dirt; it has "4-wheel drive" and is street-legal, meaning you can drive it down Boston Post Road.

Mini Excavator
The second largest machine is 18' long and 8' wide. Weighing 8,620 pounds, the "mini" works well in very small and tight spaces; the Cab can spin 360 degrees; the tracks allow you to work in muddy areas; must be delivered to the job site as a trailer.

Skid-steer
The smallest machine with the cute name is 12' feet long and 8' wide. Weighing a slim 7,381 pounds, it can work as well in very small, tight spaces; it's a little like a "Mini-Backhoe" with 4-wheel drive, but it can't be driven down Boston Post Road, it must be delivered to the jobsite on a trailer.

All three diesel-fueled machines are operated hydraulically by a driver using both hands and feet at the same time!
